Tesla Releases “Dog Mode”
We’re big fans of Tesla here at My Other Best Friend, so we’re especially excited to share with you news that Tesla has very recently released a brand-new “Dog Mode” feature on all Models (Model 3, S, X).
What the heck is Dog Mode, you maybe asking yourself. To put it simply, it’s a feature that allows your pet to saftley stay in your parked car. When selected the feature engages climate control while the car is parked. Keeping the car either warm, or cool enough inside to keep your pup as comfortable as possible. The feature also displays a message on the vehicle’s touchscreen that tells passers by that the car is in Dog Mode and the pet is indeed safe and comfortable. The message is an elegant touch and most likely a response to incidents where people have broken windows of parked cars to save a seemingly abused pup.
We tested the option on our Model X and it’s as easy as pie to toggle on and off and set the temperature limits. All you have to do is press the fan icon on the touchscreen while the car is parked and set climate on to DOG. If the car’s electrical charge dips below 20%, you will receive a notification on your mobile phone (provided you have the app installed on your phone). Tesla also notes that you should “Check local laws for any restrictions on leaving pets unattended in your car.”
